According to the EU's Single-Use Plastics Directive, which comes into force on 3 July 2024, the cap/cork must remain on beverage containers/bottles that are made or partially made of plastic (up to 3L that contain drinks/liquids that can be consumed directly). This is part of reducing litter in the environment and ensuring that both bottle and cap can be recycled. Caps listed as tethered caps remain on the bottle.
