According to the EU's single-use plastic directive, which comes into force on 3 July 2024 so the cap/cork must remain on beverage containers made or partially made of plastic (up to 3L containing beverage/liquid that can be consumed directly).
This is part of reducing litter in the environment and ensuring that both bottle and cap can be recycled.
Caps listed as tethered caps remain on the bottle.
(NOTE: does not apply to glass or to bottles used for medical contents).
